SITE SUPERVISOR
FAQS

In TK20 I see forms to be completed by ‘Cooperating Teacher.' Are those the forms I will be completing?
Yes. Because most site supervisors of student teachers are classroom teachers who are traditionally referred to as Cooperating Teachers, our system categorizes all site supervisors of practicum and student teaching candidates as Cooperating Teachers – even though we realize some may actually be Principals, District Administrators or Instructional Coaches.

May I use our district's observation/evaluation form we use for our in-service teachers for my observations of the intern?

For TSPC purposes, Corban needs documentation for Intern observations to provide data used for our program evaluation. In that light the two required observations need to be completed using the Corban Lesson Observation Report form. This form is straightforward, intuitive, and succinct. You can access a print version of the form on the Corban Teacher Resource webpage (corbantrc.org) under Internship Model, and then transfer it into Tk20.

May a mentor teacher or district/school instructional coach complete the two formal observations in my place or must I be the one to complete these lesson observations/evaluations?
Yes. You are the site supervisor of record, but you may have an instructional coach or other licensed teacher or administrator complete one or both of the observations. The 3-way evaluative meeting near the end of the internship should then include that person for collaboration.

Who should I contact first should I or our team have concerns about the intern's progress within our school?
University Supervisor first, then see list of contacts on the Internship Model page.

What is the relationship between the continued employment of the intern and the intern's progress to successfully complete Corban's GTL requirements?
The candidate’s success as an intern will be determined in collaboration between the site supervisor and university supervisor. How that culminating evaluation process impacts the candidate’s employment is up to school district personnel. A successful completion of the internship, however, is required before Corban recommends the candidate for a Preliminary Teaching License.
