INTERN MODEL
FAQS

In TK20 I see forms to be completed by the ‘Cooperating Teacher.' Are those the forms that my principal or ‘site supervisor’ will be completing?

Yes. Because most site supervisors of student teachers are classroom teachers who are traditionally referred to as Cooperating Teachers, our system categorizes all site supervisors of practicum and student teaching candidates as Cooperating Teachers – even though we realize some may actually be Principals, District Administrators or Instructional Coaches.

Can my site supervisor use our district's observation/evaluation form that they use for other teachers for my observations?

For TSPC purposes, Corban needs documentation for Intern observations to provide data used for our program evaluation. In that light the 2 required observations need to be completed using the Corban Lesson Observation Report form. This form is straightforward, intuitive and succinct. Your site supervisor can access a print version of the form on the Corban Teacher Resource webpage (corbantrc.org) under Internship Model. In fact, if you wish, you can complete the form in writing and give it to the university supervisor who will ensure that it is entered in TK20.

May my principal have someone else in the building make the observations and complete the Lesson Observation Reports?

Yes. While principals may be designated as a site supervisor of record, they may delegate the observations to others in their building who have the relevant Oregon teaching or administrative license. These forms may be completed directly in TK20 or in a print version, which is then given to the university supervisor who will see that they are entered into TK20. The 3-way evaluative meeting near the end of the internship should then include that person for collaboration.

Who should I contact first should I or anyone on my team at the school have concerns or questions?

University Supervisor first, then see list of contacts on the Internship Model page.

What is the relationship between my continued employment in the district and my successful completion of the internship?

Your success as an intern will be determined in collaboration between the site supervisor and university supervisor. How that culminating evaluation process impacts your employment is up to school district personnel. A successful completion of the internship, however, is required before Corban recommends you for a Preliminary Teaching License.
